San Ignacio to Mulegé

This is our last travel day as a caravan, from San Ignacio to Mulegé on the Gulf of California. Since we have a late (10:30) departure this day, we had time to dump our holding tanks and drive up to the Pemex station on the highway for gas. All gas station in Mexico are owned by the government-owned petroleum company. The government regulates that price, which is the same everywhere. This makes buying gas very simple!
We were told the drive might be a difficult one, but the road was better than expected. The only real challenge was when two groups, 10 rigs, all tried to get into the propane yard near Santa Rosalía at the same time!

Mulegé is a small village of 3000 people on the banks of the Rio Mulegé, only a mile or two from the Gulf of California (also known as the Sea of Cortez). It is an oasis filled with palm trees and boasts a significant winter population of norteamericanos. After getting settled into the Villa Maria Isabel RV Park, we invited members of our travel group to wine and hors d’oeurves (antejitos in Spanish) outside our rig. A little later, seven of us found our way to a small sea-shore restaurant for a nice fish dinner.
